The directors of the Misha Mahowald Prize for Neuromorphic
Engineering are pleased to announce that, with immediate
effect, the names of all future prizes will be changed to the Mahowald-Mead
Prize for Neuromorphic Engineering. The addition of the name
of Carver Mead to the Prize recognizes his fundamental
contributions and influence on the field.

Researchers wishing to be considered for an award are reminded
that submissions for both the Mahowald-Mead Prize
for Neuromorphic Engineering (MMP) and the Mahowald Early
Career
Prize (MECA) close on October 31 at 23:59 UTC. All
other regulations
regarding the Prizes shall remain the same as in previous years.
About the Mahowald-Mead Prize
The Misha Mahowald Prize has been awarded annually since 2016 for
outstanding research in the field of neuromorphic engineering,
worldwide. Dr. Misha Mahowald was a highly talented, influential,
and charismatic pioneer of neuromorphic engineering. From 2026
onwards, the prize has been renamed to the Mahowald-Mead Prize.
Caltech Prof. Emeritus Carver Mead is the most influential early
proponent of using the processing principles of the nervous system
in analog and mixed-signal VLSI chip designs.
